Faster than a speeding bullet. Able to cause ungodly amounts of pressure to the body at full thrust. The ability to leap from a dead stop to unreal speeds in a matter of seconds. That's the description one gets as they take a ride in Ed Carnecer's 1992 Toyota Supra Twin Turbo. If there's any word to say about this car, it has to be "POWERHOUSE". Imagine taking an already powerful vehicle and further enhancing its abilities. It all comes together as a really potent ride that stings you real hard if you're not paying close attention.
The motor is pumped up starting with an AB Flug intake system (probably the only one in the U.S. says Ed), HKS electronics, boost controller, VPC, Fuel Cut Defenser and turbo-timer. An Unorthodox Racing pulley allows more power to be squeezed out while a GReddy BL exhaust system allows for better back pressure release that is so necessary for these types of turbo applications. To cool the atmospheric air charge to levels reasonable for producing such high horsepower from forced induction, a GReddy front mount intercooler was installed. To keep this bad boy planted to the ground, a set of Eibach Sportline springs and Koni adjustable shocks were applied for maximum performance on the windy paths it may encounter. And to stop this asphalt burner, a set of Power Stop slotted rotors come to play when serious slowdowns are beckoned.
But it doesn't stop at just motor work, performance and speed. This Supra is also a show warrior and has earned four first place awards to back it. To enhance the engine bay, the motor has an abundance of chrome accents as well as braided hoses and the like. The interior is blessed with a sound system that rivals the sounds that come from within the engine compartment. An Alpine three-disk dual din deck is hooked up to a pair of Rockford 75 watt amplifiers, finally emitting its signals through a set of Polk Audio highs and mids and a set of JL Audio 10W6 subs. The gauge cluster has been upgraded with a carbon fiber dash kit as well. The exterior includes a full Stillen body kit integrating a custom three-stage pearl paint scheme thus creating a dark plum color effect. To complete the overall effect, a set of 18-inch Mech Stiche rims were utilized to really add to the clean look.
There are so many parts put into this car that it was very hard to list them all. A lot of the parts consists of very hard-to-find parts that are only available in Japan. Some of the best resources Ed has would have to be MAS Wheelhouse in San Mateo, California. They were able to get exactly what Ed needs and provide him with products not so easily found in the States. Other shops that have contributed to this showpiece are Konrai Racing Service for mechanic services, Audio Images for setting up the sound system and Williams Auto Body for providing body and paint applications.
Ed says his car is just one hyped Supra that isn't close to being finished. Ed's goal for his car is to stand out above the rest and become untouchable. His future goals are to add more body work and concentrate on attaining 800 Horsepower soon. Well, good luck to you, but the 485+ HP's you've got now must feel pretty good already!
